360 spin
A 360 spin is an interactive vehicle view a shopper can drag to rotate, inspecting the car from every angle as if walking around it. It's a richer format than a still gallery — and one AutoStudio does not offer yet.
Definition
A 360 spin (or 360° spin) is an interactive vehicle presentation built from a sequence of images captured evenly around the car. A viewer on the VDP can drag or swipe to rotate the vehicle a full turn, and spins often include hotspots that call out features or damage. Interior 360s let a shopper look around the cabin. The effect approximates walking around and sitting inside the car.
Why it matters
360 spins raise shopper confidence for high-consideration purchases: being able to inspect a car from every angle reduces uncertainty about condition, which can improve engagement and reduce return trips to the lot. For some dealers and marketplaces they're a differentiator. They also cost more to produce — they require controlled, evenly-spaced capture (often a turntable or a guided app) and more storage and playback tooling than a still gallery.
- Higher confidence. Interactive inspection reassures remote buyers.
- Higher production cost. Even capture and hotspot authoring take more time and equipment than stills.
- Not always necessary. A complete, consistent still gallery still does most of the selling — see how many photos a listing needs.
How AutoStudio relates
To be straight with you: AutoStudio does not produce 360 spins today. It processes still images only — background replacement, enhancement, and plate and face blur through a REST API. If an interactive spin is a hard requirement, you'll need a dedicated 360 tool; our comparison with Spyne covers a vendor that offers spins. Where AutoStudio excels is making your still galleries consistent and studio-grade at fleet scale — which, for most listings, is where the conversion lift actually comes from. You can try still-image output on your own photos with a free sandbox key at signup.
Frequently asked questions
- Does AutoStudio create 360 spins?
- No. AutoStudio handles still images only — background replacement, enhancement, and plate/face blur. It does not produce 360° spins or video today.
- Do I need a 360 spin to sell a car online?
- Usually not. A complete, consistent still gallery does most of the selling. A 360 spin can add confidence for high-value or fully-remote purchases, but it's an enhancement, not a requirement.
